My Fathers Life Lesson

by Headmaster

Just as I was really getting to understand and play basketball at a higher level I was also starting to be aware of life a lot more too. My dad would always tell me after a bad game or if I think I didn’t play well, “Everyday can’t be Sunday”. I didn’t really get it at first because I wanted to be a superstar all the time even though that’s a very unrealistic standard. But over time I began to realize basketball is a mental game just like life, everything is mental. If you believe that you can do something or if you want to pursue anything, you can do it as long as you put in the time, the work, and constantly believe in yourself no matter what anyone tells you. But believing in yourself is probably the most important aspect in the world, because if you don’t have confidence in yourself nobody will have it in you. You have to continue to trust and believe in yourself on good days and bad days because you have to know you’re human and you will make mistakes because we as humans are not perfect. So we will fail and mess up but you can still make things the best they can be by working hard, practicing, and staying disciplined with what you want to achieve.
